Day Five: Seattle, WA

We took so many photos and videos this day, there's not much left to write about. Special happy birthday and thank you to Amanda's awesome cousin Taylor for spending the day with us.

We paid $5 each to ride this roller coaster, and you can relive it with us now for FREE! You're welcome.

Yeah, we know, we're awesome. Try not to be too jealous.

More Seattle photos here!

8:02pm
Betsy: "So, where are we going now?"
Amanda: "Well, I guess Mount Rushmore."

Day Three and Four

When it’s Amanda’s turn to drive, I have been keeping busy teaching myself iMovie, so as a little project for myself, I decided to do the Day Three and Four post as a video entry. Please bear with my crappy editing skills, I’m working on it!

Day Three: Dixon, CA - Eugene, OR
Day Four: Eugene, OR - Brownsville, OR - Portland, OR - Mt St Helens - Seattle, WA

And just a side note – due to lack of internet access at most stops on our trip, we are a few days behind in updating. Our trip started on Saturday, June 14th so Day Three was Monday, June 16th and Day Four was Tuesday, June 17th.

You can view photo albums from each day on OUR PICASA PAGE and see more of my amateur video projects on OUR YOUTUBE PAGE. We just arrived in Wisconsin, and we have more entries coming very soon!

Day One and Two

Day One: Los Angeles, CA - San Jose, CA - Salinas, CA

11:00ish AM PST: wake up

First thoughts upon waking up:
Betsy- "How many vodka shots did I take?! I lost count at 3."
Amanda- "WHERE'D THE OZMA PILLOW GO??!!"

The next few hours are a blur, spent sweeping, mopping, washing and re-washing dishes (and by dishes I mean mostly cups and shot glasses), and running up and down Betsy's stairs packing the Focus.

2:15ish PM PST: Swing by Carrie's apartment to say goodbye and enjoy a delicious breakfast/lunch/afternoon snack of tater tots.

2:45 PM PST: On the road, stopping for gas in Oxnard, CA. Bonding with Nancy, our GPS, begins:

Name: Nancy Nuvi
Age: roughly 1 year. We think.
Favorite cartoon character: Rosie from the Jetsons
Pet Peeve: When Betsy and Amanda miss an exit... Which happens often.
Favorite Starburst Flavor: please turn right, and, turn right.

Don't be fooled. She can be a snob.

9:15 PM PST: Arrive at San Jose Skate to meet up with Say No More

Free skate rental with admission to the show. Free rollerskating?! We're sold. Say No More plays their set, Boots and I continue in our skating excursion. Then its off to the Pedrazzi Ranch to indulge in some roasted marshmallows and (uugghhh!) Crown Royal.

I have to take a minute and recall a quote from Peter to his Mom the next morning:
P: "Look Mom! You're up beer! That never happens!"
M: "Yeah! You're right! But I bet I'm down whiskey..."

Continuing on. You'll notice some interesting things in the videos. Things like recurring southern accents. This became a habit that was apparently extremely hard to break. Irritating, however entertaining.

I can't express enough, how good it was to see old friends and meet new ones in that one night. Betsy said she felt like we were the Salinas version of The Hills. LC should have been in the bathroom crying. She would.

Day Two: Salinas, CA - Sacramento, CA - Dixon, CA

Nothing could have prepared Betsy and I for day two. Not even a shower and clean clothes.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast prepared by Peter Pedrazzi himself, feeding the horses, and meeting Mr. and Mrs. Pedrazzi, we embarked on a tour of the ranch. Armed with nothing but a cooler of Coors Lite, The Format's ep, and a rifle (which we never touched, I promise)("I'm sitting next to a cooler of Coors Lite and a gun and I'm having a good day!" -Betsy), we were set to go. I can't begin to explain how taken back we were by the views of the ranch as we drove up the mountain. We knew Peter grew up on a ranch, but we had no idea that he had so much land to run/drive around on as a kid. People could be so lucky.

We ended up at his cabin at the top of the mountain in just enough time to get an interview from him and learn more about the ranch before his family (probably the sweetest people in the world) drove up to enjoy a Father's Day BBQ. We were given a further tour of the land, breifly visiting Mount Toro (a lookount point during war times to see ships roll into Monterey Bay) and The Rock House (where we think cheese was stored and Peter so daringly once spent a night on his own).

After a trip back down the mountain and yet ANOTHER shower, Boots and I were off to Sacramento to seek the wireless internet gods. They never showed. In fact, I think they damned us. Off to Dixon, California.

Our friend Andy (with whom we had very little time to spend, unfortunately) was sweet enough to meet us at a club we never entered (we fell asleep in the Focus), and lead us back to his place in Dixon, where we enjoyed chips & dip and an episode of Engaged and Underage ("Oh! It is love!") before, yet again, wiping out. Thank you, Andy, for your floor. And your broken clock. We will always love/miss you. :)

Thank You!

We're on Day Three of our trip and we FINALLY have working internet!  We just wanted to say a quick THANK YOU to everyone who came to our Going-Away Fiesta on Friday and to everyone who brought us lovely presents and mix CDs.  The CDs and fur collar have really come in handy so far.  And the train whistle.  We will be posting lots of photos and videos on here along the way- here are some from the party:

More coming soon!

Okay.
I made it. First task: complete.
One day closer to RTA2K8. Also, I think we've added a stop in Salinas, CA with our good friend Peter and his band Say No More. Which, I'm sure will prove to be a good time, as they always were at The Kester House.

Things are looking good for this trip! We have lots of plans to not have plans and I think I'm pretty accurate in speaking for both Boots and I when I say that we'd have it no other way.

Again, the RTA2K8 Kickoff extravaganza is Friday at 8 pm. Bring friends! Pictures to follow.

I'm off for waffles at the best breakfast joint in the valley.

Cheers.
